True Beauty Korean drama is the story of a high school girl Joo Gyung (Moon Ga Young) but she had a complex regarding her appearance. She has been bullied by her peers because of her appearance. Joo Gyung starts hiding her bare face with makeup in front of others. After transferring to another school, she gets to involves with two handsome and popular boys Lee Suho (Cha Eun Woo) and Seo Joon (Hwang In Yeop).

Moon Ga Young as Joo Gyung 

Since childhood, Joo Gyung has been discriminated against by her family, relatives, and friends. After humiliating by her peers constantly, she starts learning makeup tutorial videos. Joo Gyung loves reading horror comic books and always listens to heavy metal music.

Cha Eun Woo as Lee Suho

Hwang In Yeop as Han Seo Jun

Seo Jun is also very popular among girls in Saebom High School. His image is a tough and bad boy but a nice and loving person in front of his mother and sister. Seo Jun is a former idol trainee but he stops that when a tragic incident happens to his best friend.

Park Yoo Na as Kang Soo Jin

Soo Jin is Suho’s childhood friend. In the whole school, Suho only talks with Soo Jin. Soo Jin is the perfect example of beauty with brain. She is a nice and friendly girl. Her father always abused her for always coming in second place in the school ranking.

Joo Gyung has been outcast by her peers because of her pimple face and they always call her ugly. They always bully her for no reason. She had a crush on Hyun Bin (Lee Tae Ri) a cafeteria guy. When she confesses her love to him, he also humiliates and insults her. After that humiliation, she decides to end her life and stand on the rooftop building. She was in a dilemma to jump from the building or not the suddenly a boy come and stop her. When she reached her home she heard from her mother that they are moving back to their old house. Joo Gyung was very happy to hear that news and she starts learning makeup to hide her bare face.

New Journey:

Joo Gyung starts her new journey of makeup looks after moving to Saebom High School. She became the goddess of Saebom High School and she easily makes new friends with her look. To Joo Gyung makeup is her mask which she uses for survival. She gets involves with two boys Lee Suho and Seo Joon. After school Joo Gyung and Suho meet in their neighborhood comic store. Later she came to know that Suho is the same guy who saves her from the rooftop building. Suho also knows about her appearance without makeup. Even after knowing her appearance, he didn’t care about anything.

Girl’s Trio:

In the Saebom High School Joo Gyung finally find the friends, all thanks to her. A friend she wants in her previous school they all bully her in every possible way. Joo Gyung, Soo Jin, and Soo Ah are the best friends. All enjoy spending time with each other. One day when Joo Gyung saw her old bully’s in the school bus then she got nervous than Soo Jin support and calm her down without asking anything.

Love Triangle:

When Seo Jun know that Suho has a feeling for Joo Gyung and he also starts liking her. In the starting, he wants to take revenge on Suho because he blames him for the suicide of their best friend Se Yeon (Chani). Joo Gyung is unaware that Seo Jun also like her. Suho and Joo Gyung have a feeling for each other but they didn’t tell each other about their feelings. On the school trip, Suho decides to tell Joo Gyung about his feeling but she thought that he has a feeling for Soo Jin because they are childhood friends and know each other.

Soo Jin also starts feeling for Suho and that’s the beginning of a misunderstanding between the two best friends. Both Soo Jin and Joo Gyung are unaware of the fact that both of them like Suho.

Bromance:

Suho and Seo Jun once a friend and now they don’t like to talk with each other. Despite that, they care for each other. One day, when their late best friend  Se Yeon’s unreleased song was released by a new Kpop group, they are furious by that fact. So Suho goes to this father’s company, where Se Yeon was a trainee. Meanwhile, they are involved in an accident and after that incident, they start resolving their misunderstanding and again become the best friend. Seo Jun came to know that Suho also mentally suffering after Se Yeon’s suicide.

Dating Secretly:

Joo Gyung and Suho are dating but they didn’t tell anyone. Joo Gyung doesn’t want to tell anyone about them because she thought that Suho is very popular among girls and if they find out that she is dating him then all girls will kill her. On the other hand, Suho wants to tell other kids about them but he respects her GF decision. Meanwhile, Joo Gyung tells Seo Jun that she is dating Suho. When she decided to tell Soo Jin that she is dating Suho, Soo Jin tells her that she like Suho, and then again she decides not to tell her.

Joo Gyung’s Hidden Truth:

Finally, a day comes when the whole school knows about Joo Gyung’s bare face. The truth that she wants to hide from his friends everyone knows about that. Soo Jin was the one who uploads the video of her best friend in the school community post. She did all to take revenge on Joo Gyung because she doesn’t want them to date each other. But this time Joo Gyung didn’t run away from the situation she fights with the situation. Suho is always there to support and give strength to her.

Adorable Characters:

I really the whole cast to True Beauty. There are so many characters who will make to laugh. Lim Hee Gyung (Im Se Mi) and Han Jun Woo (Oh Eui Shik) cuteness and romance are on the top. Their scene together always makes you laugh. Hee Gyung breaks all the stereotypes of dating.

Lim Joo Young (Kim Min Ki) and Han Go Woon (Yeo Joo Ha) are amazing. The way Joo Young irritates and behave immaturely in front of Goo Woo is so cute. He tries his best in confessing his love to Go Woon and also motivates Seo Jun to at least try before giving up.

Soo Ah (Kang Min Ah) and Tae Hoon (Lee Il Joon) are the loveable couples of the whole drama. They always make me laugh. Tae Hoon helps and motivates Suho in every possible way so that he can express his love to Joo Gyung. Undoubtedly Tae Hoon is the most frustrated person of True Beauty Korean drama.

Overall Thoughts On True Beauty Korean Drama

If you have watched the webtoon then maybe you will be a little disappointed with True Beauty Korean drama because it is totally different from the webtoon. I love and enjoyed True Beauty Korean drama. This is my first time seeing Cha Eun Woo’s acting and I fall in love with his acting and handsome face. I haven’t watched a webtoon so I like whatever happening in the drama. If you are a fan of Seo Jun then be ready for the disappointment.

True Beauty Korean drama is a roller coaster for me where I laugh, cry, and it will give so many emotions at the same time. There are so many elements where True Beauty Korean drama focused on like friendship, school bullying, love, passion, and family pressure. There are so many emotional scenes in the whole drama but one which touches my heart is when Joo Gyung’s mother finds out that her daughter’s classmate bullies her for being ugly.
