Japanese occupied Korea and they were ruling over the country. Jang Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) is a wealthy self-made man. He is the master of Golden Treasure and can get anything he wants. Yoon Chae Ok (Han So Hee) is a sleuth who came to Bukchon in Gyeongseong with her father to find her missing mother. Jang Tae Sang was involved with Chae Ok after a case.
Main Characters:
Park Seo Joon as Jang Tae Sang
Jang Tae Sang is the owner of a pawnshop in Bonjeong. He is known as Mr. Omniscient. Tae Sang is a playboy and living his life fully, he doesn’t care about Korean independence from the Japanese.
Han So Hee as Yoon Chae Ok
Yoon Chae Ok is a sleuth who has been finding her mother for 10 years with her father. They have specialists in finding missing people.
Kim Su Hyun as Maeda Yukiko
Maeda Yukiko is a powerful Japanese noblewoman and she is secretly controlling the Gyeongseong.
Highlights of Gyeongseong Creature Korean Drama
House of Golden Treasure
Jang Tae Sang is the owner of “House of Golden Treasure”. Nothing can scare and stop him from anything. He can get anything he wants in Bukchon. They say “You must go through Jang Tae Sang if you want anything in Bonjeong, whether it be money, property, or a person”. But he is forced to find a missing woman who was the mistress of a Japanese Commissioner Ishikawa, she goes missing. Tae Sang denied the task so Ishikawa threatened him that he would lose his everything if he couldn’t find Akiko/Myeong Ja. Finally, Tae Sang agreed to track down Myeong Ja. Still, he was trail by Commissioner Ishikawa’s man.
Investigation with Sleuths:
Finding a missing will be difficult for Tae Sang as he is not an expert on that but Mrs Nawol introduces two sleuths. Although Tae Sang and Chae Ok’s first meeting was not good enough to work together they somehow agreed to work together. Chae Ok also needs Tae Sang’s help as needs to find a Japanese man named “Ryu Sachimoto” because he the only clue she has to find her missing mother. They both decide that Tae Sang will find Ryu Sachimoto for Chae Ok and Chae Ok will help him in finding Myeong Ja. Yoon Chae Ok and Yoon Jung Won (her father) find a lead on Myeong Ja, which leads them to Onseong Hospital.
Mysterious Hospital:
Chae Ok and Jung Wo decide that they will enter Onseong Hospital to find Myeong Ja. Once they enter they discover the underground operation which the Japanese military is doing on humans. Japanese military was doing human experiments and they imprisoned a lot of Korean people. The more they went in, the more their ways out were closed and now they were trapped inside the hospital. As the Military decided to shut down the hospital many nurses ran away, one korean nurse Tae Sang received the note that they had found Myeong Ja.
Rescue and Reunited:
Tae Sang was concerned for Chae Ok as he fell in love with her and could not leave her alone inside the hospital so he decided to reenter the hospital to rescue her and Myeong Ja. He also succeeds in finding Sachimoto and he helps Tae Sang in entering the hospital. Now they have started their risky plan after reuniting they also saved many survivor kids who were imprisoned. Inside the hospital, the military also succeeded in creating Monster and they called her “Seishin”. Now they fight with the Japanese military and monster.
Seishin’s Truth:
Finally, they came face to face with the creature, and in the process of fighting Tae Sang and Chae Ok were captured by the Japanese military. Both were tortured but somehow Tae Sung succeeded in escaping. Chae Ok was kept inside the cell where her mother was, she saw the painful notes that her mother had written about how much she missed her daughter. So Chae Ok decides to stay to find her mother but for her harsh truth was waiting and that her mother has now become a monster.
Overall Thoughts on Gyeongseong Creature Korean Drama:
The storyline is amazing and a new concept. It is a short drama so anyone can finish within 2-3 days but for the sequel, we have to wait. If you are interested in historical sci-fi drama then you can give this drama a try. Kind of survival drama shows the story of Tae Sung who started from scratch and built his own empire.
