Lee Hwan is a Crown Prince (Park Hyung Shik) who is arrogant and mean. He is cursed by a ghost letter. Meanwhile, Min Jae Yi (Jeon So Nee) is an intelligent woman who comes from a noble family. One day her entire family is murdered and Jae Yi is framed for killing her family.

Ghost Letter:
Lee Hwan is a Crown Prince and on his first day in the East Palace, he received a mysterious letter. “You may have ascended the throne by killing your brother, but you will never be king. Even if you have arms, you won’t be able to use them. You will grow old and die alone without a wife or children. Your best friend will backstab you and a lot of people will be killed because of your stupidity. The people will try to dethrone you and the curse will only be able to be broken by your death“. There is a rumor in the palace that Crown Prince can’t use his right arm. Because he was shot in his right shoulder by a poison arrow a year ago and he’s been cursed by a ghost not only that but he has killed Prince Ui Hyeon to take the throne.
Future King is a Cripple:
Right State Councilor Jo Won Bo (Jung Woong In) wants to dethrone Crown Prince, he wants his niece’s son Prince Myung Ahn (Im Han Bin) to have all the power. Prince Myung Ahn is Yi Hwan’s half-brother. So he decides to attack the Crown Prince by stating the rumor about Crown Prince’s right arm has already spread to the market streets. He planned to send Hwan to the Great Hunting Ceremony and isn’t able to lift the bow. However, Hwan has to prove that his arm is still in working order or else resign. To everyone’s surprise, he proved that the rumor was false in front of everyone not only that but he warn his enemy that today must be the last time for him to prove anything.
Falsely Accused:
Sergeant Han Sung On is a fiancé of Min Jae Yi. He received a letter from Gaeseong that Master Min Ho Seung and his entire family has been murdered and Lady Jae Yi has been accused of murdering her entire family. Rumor was spreading that Lady Jae Yi poisoned her entire family and she had a lover when she was supposed to get married to Sergeant Han. Master Min took Shim Young (Kim Woo Seok) in when he was just a boy and raised him as his own. Young and Jae Yi were like brother and sister but the rumor was spreading that they have been lovers for a while and he confessed that Lady Min bought the poison herself and killed her family. Now she is on the run.
Mystery:
Lee Hwa wants to find out the mystery behind the ghost letter so he has sent the secret letter to Master Min along with the wedding gifts. But after that Master Min was killed. Jae Yi decides to meet Crown Prince because she thinks that her family’s death must have something to do with Crown Prince. She dresses up like a man even after all the only person she can count on is Jang Ga Ram. Hwan locked him in the storage and he told her that he had never sent any letter to her father. Her only aim is to find the real killer so her family can rest in peace. Jae Yi told him that the person who solved all cases in Gaesong was her, not her brother. To check on her Hwan give her the task to come to the Eastern Palace on her own.
Byeokcheon Investigation:
Through the Cardinal Point case, Jae Yi proves herself and Hwan also believes and trusts her that she is innocent. But that doesn’t last long because the situation arises where evidence is pointing that Jae Yi is the one who has killed her whole family likewise Hwan also couldn’t believe Jae Yi. So he decides to kick her out of the palace. After that, he feels lonely inside the palace without Jae Yi. Later situation changed and Jae Yi came back. All credit goes to Jae Yi when Hwan was changing and now he decides to believe in his people who are lonely him. Byeokcheon case comes to light after the shaman’s curse. Hwan, Jae Yi, Jang Ga Ram, and Kim Myung Jin all of them are trying their best to find out the case.
Overall Thoughts on Our Blooming Youth Korean Drama
Our Blooming Youth is the second historical Korean drama of Park Hyung Shik and he did a pretty good job. It is the mystery-thriller story of a Crown Prince who was cursed by a ghost letter and was alone in the Palace. One day he meets Min Jae Yi who was framed for killing her entire family, together they were helping each other. Lee Hwan needs her to solve the mystery behind a ghost letter and Jae Yi needs the help of the Crown Prince to find out the killer of her family. The chemistry between the leads is amazing. I recommend watching this drama if you are into the historical genre. This drama is a lovely combination of romance and mystery.
