Under The Queen’s Umbrella is the story of the queen and her troublemaking princes. According to the royal protocol, Queen Hwa Ryeong has to act with dignity and grace but she acts the opposite totally. Her troublemaker prince always makes her life very difficult.

Kim Hye Soo as Queen Im Hwa Ryeong
Hwa Ryeong is a loud and fearless queen rather than elegant and her troublemaker prince always give her a headache. She has a strong personality and is a strong-minded queen.
Kim Hae Sook as Queen Dowager Cho
Queen Dowager Cho is the mother of King Lee Ho. She is the one who makes him king and has an influence in the royal palace and knows many secrets.
Choi Won Young as King Lee Ho
King Lee Ho is a wise and righteous King, who always thinks for the betterment of his people. He may not have much influence, but he used to turn the decision to his benefit.
Moon Sang Min as Grand Prince Sung Nam
Sung Nam is a Grand Prince who always uses his body more than his brain.
Ok Ja Yeon as Royal Consort Hwang
Royal Consort Hwang’s only motive is to become the queen or to make his son crown prince and for that she can do anything. She doesn’t believe in winning the right way.

Fearless And Bold Queen:
Hwa Ryeong is a fearless and bold queen in the royal palace, she has to behave gracefully but she is clumsy and many make fun of that. She is very confident of her position as a queen because she knows that she has raised the perfect crown prince (Bae In Hyuk). King Lee Ho has ten wives and ten sons. Queen’s other four sons (Grand Prince) have no interest in studies. Prince Seong Nam (Moon Sang Min) likes only one thing and that is horse riding. Prince Mu Ahn (Yoon Sang Hyeon) is a playboy and very easygoing, whose only interest is in sex education in the classroom. Prince Gye Seong (Yoo Seon Ho) is sweet and innocent but hides a deep secret from everyone. Prince Il Young is the youngest among them.
Siblings Bond:
Being the son of the Queen grand prince is always under massive pressure. Everyone has a high expectations and always tries to bully for being a grand prince. But even though they are going through all these hardships they still have each other’s back, they always stand for each other. Their bond is very heartwarming, and strong and they are always loyal to each other even when they get into trouble.
Death of Crown Prince:
Crown Prince is a very humble, intellectual, and kind-hearted prince and everyone loves him except a few who wants to eliminate him from their way. Someone was secretly planning to kill him. Queen and King were very happy but their happiness didn’t last long. Crown Prince has been hiding his sickness from his mother. He was suffering from the same fatigue condition that his uncle Prince Taein had. Not only that but the safety of other Grand Prince also depends on the health of the Crown Prince. Queen Hwa Ryeong tries her best to save the crown prince secretly, Grand Prince Sung Nam also finds out the about the sickness of the Crown Prince. However, it is very late for them to save Crown Prince, and the kingdom loses its Crown Prince.
Battle Between Princes:
After the death of the Crown Prince whole kingdom was sad, King was in shock and he was blaming Queen for the death of the Crown Prince. However, King has to fulfill his duty to choose the suitable Prince for the Crown Prince position. Without giving warning King and Queen decide to send every prince into the battle for the crown prince. They have to perform different tasks and those who survived till the last their last task was to bring back the two ex-statesmen who were expelled. They were a good friend of the King’s, he need their talent despite their own differences. To complete the task Prince have only four days.
New Crown Prince:
In the battle, some are in the last stage of their task whereas other didn’t make it or they are not interested in the crown prince position. Prince Sung Nam and Prince Bo Gum have to bring Park Gyeong Woo (Kim Seung Soo). When Sung Nam reaches the island he finds that Bo Gum has beaten him but Gyeong Woo was declining their request to go back to the palace. He is ready to oppose the King’s appointment. However in the end after three days Sung Nam and Bo Gum tried to convince him. Prince Sung Nam, Bo Gum, and Ui Sung left in the battle. The last take is given to the scholars to select the new crown prince. Queen had kept her eyes so that no one could cheat. Finally, the kingdom got its crown prince, Sung Nam.

Under The Queen’s Umbrella is one of the best historical Korean dramas, where the King and Queen are always one step ahead of all the problems. Initially, I was hesitant to watch this drama because of the historical genre but now I’m loving this series. The story is also very unique compared to other historical dramas so far. It is the story of a queen who was fighting for royal politics to keep her family alive. The battle for the throne inside the palace. Although the king has ten wives he always cherishes and like the company of Queen Hwa Ryeong. They are smart and integrity couples. Queen Hwa Ryeong always follows the righteous path.
