Hospital Playlist is the story of five doctors. They have been friends since they entered medical school in 1999. They are still friends and work together at the same hospital.

Main Characters:

Jo Jung Suk as Lee Ik Joon

Lee Ik Joon is a general surgeon and a comedy package in this drama. He loves clubbing and playing games. He is the heart of the team.

Jung Kyung Ho as Kim Jun Wan

Kim Jun Wan is a Cardiothoracic surgeon. He is caring toward his patients and his friends while insensitive to the residents and loves playing golf. He is the perfect example of an “ideal boyfriend” who supports his woman in every situation.

Yoo Yeon Suk as Ahn Jung Won

Ahn Jung Won is a pediatrician who loves children but his desire is to become a priest by attending a theological school in Italy. He is very kind to everyone.

Kim Dae Myung as Yang Seok Hyung

Yang Seok Hyung is an OB-GYN surgeon. He is a mama’s boy. He tells his mother every single detail; what he is doing, what his friends are doing, that’s so funny. He is the perfect example of the quiet guy in the friendship circle.

Jeon Mi Do as Chae Song Hwa

Chae Song Hwa is a neurosurgeon. She is the most sensible person in the group and the only female in the group. She loves to purchase camping supplies in her free time. I am sure many female viewers get envious of the female lead Song Hwa who has four reliable male friends who care for her.

Highlights of Hospital Playlist Korean Drama

Friendship:

Being a friend with someone for more than 20 years is great. And it is so amazing that being a doctor they still do the things that they want to do. They love to spend their time together in their eating, drinking, and music sessions. Whenever they go out, they discuss each other’s problems and then everyone gives their opinion/advice. Jun Wan and Song Hwa are the eating machines of the group.

Band Sessions:

Every weekend, the friends meet up in a basement to practice as a band. They all relieve their stress through music and practice brand. The band session shows that no matter how busy they are in their jobs but still they practice the band every weekend.

Ro Sa and Jong Su’s Friendship:

If we talk about friendship in Hospital Playlist, then not only these five have impressed us with their friendship but also Ro Sa (Kim Hae Sook) and Jong Su’s (Kim Gab Soo) friendship is so pure and heart touching. Ro Sa and Jong Su have been best friends since their childhood, till now. They both lose their partner, but still enjoy their life. They both support and care for each other and always hang out with each other. I always love the scene when Ro Sa shouts at Jong Su whenever he does something wrong.

Hospital Gossip:

In the hospital, everyone wants to know about them, especially those who like them. Bong Kwang Hyeon (Choi Young Joon) is the only source of information for them. Jang Gyeo Wool (Shin Hyun Bin) likes Ahn Jeong Won so she wants to know about him. Chu Min Ha (Ahn Eun Jin) wants to know about Yang Seok Hyung. Ahn Chi Yong (Kim Joon Han) like Chae Song Hwa and Do Jae Hak (Jung Moon Sung) wants to know about Kim Jun Wan.

Gyeo Wool’s One Sided Love:

Gyeo Wool did an amazing job in her role. She encouraged all those people who have one-sided love to not give up until the end. Gyeo Wool is the most hard-working resident of the General Surgeon and the only female in that department. She finally confesses her feeling to Jung Hwan and convenes him to stop becoming the priest.

Jun Wan and Ik Sun Secretly Dating:

Jun Wan’s secretly dating Lee Ik Jun’s sister Lee Ik Sun (Kwak Sun Young), he does his best so that Ik Jun doesn’t find out. Ik Jun desperately wanted to find out about Jun Wan’s girlfriend. I was waiting for the time when will Jun Wan tell Ik Jun that he is dating his sister and what will be Ik Jun reaction.

Mama’s Boy:

First, I thought that why Yang Seok Hyung says all the time mama mama, then after a few episodes I realized that he was doing just an amazing, his efforts to free his mother from her selfish husband. And he always wants to spend his time with his mother so that she doesn’t feel lonely.

Funny Moments:

One of my favorite scenes in Hospital Playlist was when Ik Jun told Dr. Ahn that his sister likes him, but Dr. Ahn was kept telling him that we are just close friends and Joon Wan crack an egg on Ik Jun head because he likes his sister after that they both start pulling each other’s hair and start fighting like seven-year-old kids.

Overall Thoughts on Hospital Playlist:

This is my sixth Medical Korean drama but surely this drama is very different from the previous ones. And I must say that 2020 is the best year in terms of Korean drama. I have watched such an amazing drama this year. Every time I watch Korean Medical series, I also want to become a Doctor sometimes I thought I have to watch this Korean medical drama when I was in my school, but that’s too late for me now. Can you relate to this???

If you are looking for a Korean drama that follows a storyline, then Hospital Playlist is not that drama because this drama focuses on the character’s lives, and each day there is a new story. Hospital Playlist teaches us the importance of family and friends in life and teaches us that if you love someone, then show your love to them just by doing little things; like eating with them, talking with them, and most important is if they need you to be there for them, do that rather than saying.

I really like the fact that all of them are enjoying their doctor’s life and doing what they want to do. Hospital Playlist shows the emotions and pain that doctors are also facing in their job. You cannot easily predict what will happen next in this series because every episode contained its own unique factor. I think the job of doctors is very difficult because they have to be ready every minute like we are witnessing in this drama. Whenever they have a get-together, in the band session or they are in the middle of dinner suddenly they got the call from the hospital and they have to go.

Hospital Playlist is one of the best Korean dramas that aired this year and they announced that there will be a Season 2 of Hospital Playlist. I’m very excited, are you excited?
