The Uncanny Counter Korean Drama is full of mystery, action, and fantasy. Counter’s catch evil spirits and punished them for their wrongdoings. A group of people is called “Counter” and they work in the eonni noodle restaurants. After watching dramas with powers I wish for one.

Main Characters:

Jo Byung Gyu as So Mun

So Mun is a high school student with a physically challenged. He lost his parents in a car accident when he was young. Became the newest member of the counter and possessed by Yung spirit Wi-gen. Later he was possessed by another Young spirit Dong-pal.

Yoo Jun Sang as Ga Mo Tak

Mo-tak was a detective and while working on a case he was badly injured and about to die. He was given another chance to live as a counter and he was possessed by Gi-ran. Now he has been working as a counter past seven years and has no memory of the past.

Kim Se Jeong as Do Ha Na

Ha-na is the only person to survive in her family after eating poison. She was possessed by Woo-Sik which gave her the power to sense evil spirits and enter into someone’s memory or read them.

Yeom Hye Ran as Chu Mae Ok

Mae-ok is the oldest member of the team she lost her son Su-ho and was later possessed by him. She has healing powers.

Reasons To Watch The Uncanny Counter Korean Drama

Counters:

The counter is one who works to catch evil spirits and send them to Yung, where they get afterlife punishment. Whenever they are surrounded by Yung’s territory they became four times more powerful.

Approaching So Mun

One day when Jang Cheol-joong died while fighting with the level 3 evil spirit Wi-gen is finding a body to live. So Mun was chilling out with his friends and Wi-gen entered his body. He is the first living person possessed by Yung’s people and was approached by them to work as a counter in return they promise to let him meet his passed-away parents. He agreed to that condition but later finds out that his parents are not up there and are in the possession of an evil spirit.

Trouble Maker

There is one strict rule for counters that they cannot interfere in public lives. When Ga Mo-tak tells So Mun that his father died while working on a case with him. When they dug more into that they find out that it was Mr. Shin Myung-hwi and his men doing who was the mayor of the city for covering up a murder. They worked hard to reveal the truth and put their lives in danger to catch that level 3 evil spirit. They were summoned by Yung’s people for breaking up the rules and they also suspended So Mun because of his desire to kill someone.

Danger

So Mun was back to his normal life but the danger on him was still there. Level 3 evil spirit who was in his final level now has become more powerful and immortal, he kidnapped So Mun and called the other three to save him. They were badly injured and So Mun has many unknown powers and one of them is he can summon the Wi-gen without her permission. He saved their life by controlling Yung’s territory.

Core-four

After So Mun joins the team they became a team of Core-four and they all work together to catch the evil spirits. Gradually other three are training him to become stronger. Now he can also control Yung’s territory because the desire his killing someone was his desire to save someone.

Lost Another Teammate

Choo Mae-ok was ill after the last fight with the evil spirit so they call Jung-gu (who has healing power) to heal her. He insisted she rest for a while and that he will go with the team to summon the evil spirit. While saving Ga Mo-tak he lost his life and Yung’s partner Dong-pal is also on the verge of disappearing but finds another human body to survive and that human body is of So Mun.

The Final Showdown

The evil spirit has transferred from Ji Chung-sin’s body to Shin Myung-hwi’s body to escape from the counter’s master plan and now he is weak and needs time to cope with it. In the end, when the evil spirit is strong enough to fight with them, he invited them for a final face-off. It was the last day when the evil spirits and humans become one and if that happens then all the souls eaten by that evil spirit will disappear so do So Mun’s parents. They fight with all their potential and So Mun discovers new powers in him. In the end, he met his parents.

Overall Thoughts On The Uncanny Counter Korean Drama

I like the concept of the drama and acting were up to the mark. Every bit of this drama was superb and I wish for a second season soon. I like the action part especially Kim Se-jeong as Do Ha-na, she is awesome in that. You can also watch The Uncanny Counter Korean drama on Netflix.

This is one of those dramas you cannot miss watching, highly recommended. After the success and record-breaking of Season 1 fans are waiting for The Uncanny Counter Season 2. According to the sources, they will start filming in September of 2021 and it may release the episodes of The Uncanny Counter Season 2 in the first half of 2022.
