Gu San Yeong (Kim Tae Ri) lives with her mother and faces financial issues. One day she received a strange thing left behind by her late father. Now, mysterious deaths are taking place around Gu San Yeong. Meanwhile, Yeon Hae Sung (Oh Jung Se) is a folklore professor at a university and can see ghosts. Together they were finding the truth behind mysterious suicide cases around the city.

Main Characters:

Kim Tae Ri as Gu San Yeong

Gu Sang Yeong is a bright student who was preparing for the 9th-grade civil service exam. She received mysterious belongings from her late father after that her life changed and gets involved in mysterious deaths.

Oh Jung Se as Yeon Hae Sung

Yeon Hae Sung is a folklore professor from a wealthy family. He has the ability to see ghosts so he was in search of a ghost who was responsible for her mother’s death.

Hong Kyung as Lee Hong Sae

Lee Hong Sae is a lieutenant in the Seoul Metropolitan Government’s Violent Crime Investigation Unit. Although he only cares about his promotion in the police department.

Struggle:

Gu Sang Yeong is living a rough life with her mother. She was raised by a single mother and she was different part-time jobs as her family is facing financial issues. Sang Yeong was studying hard to become a 9th-grade civil servant. Because of her mother, they were involved in voice phishing and they have lost their hard earn money. One day her mother received a phone call from her mother-in-law and she informed her that her husband is dead. For Sang Yeong it was shocking news as her mother told her that her father was dead when she was a kid. She receives a mysterious box from her late father and since then mysterious deaths were take place around her.

Possessed By a Ghost:

While going back she encounters Hae Sang he even warns her that she is passed by a ghost but she ignored his warning. Slowly people around her are dying, the ghost was killing people whom Sang Yeong wanted dead. Voice phishing was found dead and the police suspected Sang Yeong however there was no evidence to prove Sang Yeong’s presence in the crime scene. She also finds herself changes in her body. Only Hae Sang can see the ghost size changes in Sang Yeong’s shadow. Sang Yeong can see the ghost in front of the mirror.

Suicide Case:

In the search for ghost identity San Yeong and Han Sang arrived in a city called Jangjinri. There they witness a tree shadow where dead bodies were hanging, In an apartment mysteriously students were dying, and due to lack of evidence, police had to conclude it suicide case. Only Han Sang and San Yeong know why the students were dying one by one.

Investigation:

San Yeong’s father was also possessed by the same ghost. Han Sang family is the creator of that ghost for the wealth in their family. Han Sang’s grandfather, and father were also possessed so after their death it was his turn but his mother was against of that and she wanted to finish the possession cycle in their family. San Yeong’s father and Han Sang’s mother decide to work together as they don’t want any more death. However, they both failed because the last object was wrong and the ghost’s name was also wrong. The only way is by sealing the 5 objects and the correct name of the ghost but if they failed then they will be killed in the process.

Real Ghost:

In the beginning, they thought that ghost’s correct name is Lee Mok Dan but later they manage to find out that Mok Dan’s older sister Lee Hyan Gi is the ghost. Because of Han Sang’s grandmother’s mistake, they manage to find out the correct name as she is the only one who knows the correct name. They finally found Hyan Gi’s body and the last object was also there. But when they found the last object San Yeong’s body switched with Hyan Gi’s body and now San Yeong is trapped inside the mirror. Now the only option they have is to find the index finger of Hyan Gi and burn it.

Overall Thoughts on Revenant Korean Drama

Revenant is one of the best Korean dramas of 2023. Kim Tae Ri and Oh Jung Se played their role perfectly. Kim Tae Ri is known for her versatile role, and again she didn’t disappoint us with her acting skills. She played two different characters perfectly her ghost character gives chills. Kim Eun Hee is one of the best screenwriters. It is the story of a young woman who is possessed by a ghost and folklore who can see ghosts. Together they were trying to figure out the story of ghosts and death behind the mysterious death. Highly recommend this drama enjoy watching the mystery-thriller drama with the hint of horror element.
