After the death of Young Soon’s (Ra Mi Ran) husband, she raised her son Kang Ho (Lee Do Hyun) alone. They live in the countryside and Young Soon runs a pig farm. She wants Kang Ho to become a prosecutor so she made herself into a strict mother who always forces him to study. In the end, Kang Ho works as a prosecutor but he has a cold personality. The Good Bad Mother is one of the top Korean dramas of 2023 so far.

Ra Mi Ran as Jin Young Soon
Young Soon is a single mother who runs a pig farm. After the death of her husband, she forcefully became a bad mother to protect her child.
Lee Do Hyun as Choi Kang Ho
Kang Ho is the only son of Young Soon, his mother’s actions make him a cold-hearted personality. He met an unexpected accident, and after that, he returns as a 7-year-old boy.
Ahn Eun Jin as Lee Mi Joo
Mi Joo is a nail artist who wants to open her own nail salon. She is Kang Ho’s ex-girlfriend.

Highlights of The Good Bad Mother Korean Drama
Tragedy Strikes:
Flashback In 1986, Young Soon is a warm-hearted person who works in a pesticide shop. Hae Shik owns a pig farm and he had a crush on Young Soon after he proposed to Young Soon with a piglet, and started living happily. Because of Seoul Olympics, private companies decided to ask Hae Shik to move somewhere else. However, he didn’t want to leave his property because of the Olympics. Woo Byeok’s ego was hurt when Hae Shik decline his offer so he set fire to Hae Shik’s pig farm and all his pigs were burnt to death. Hae Shik was fighting for justice but he was not aware that the police and Woo Byeok are together. They brutally killed Hae Shik and disguised it as a suicide. In the end, Young Soon was left alone with her unborn child.
New Beginning:
After her husband’s death, she decided to leave that village and moved to a new town. Jo-woo-ri is a quiet nosy town, Son Yong Rak (Kim Won Hae) is a village chief and his masked wife. Sam Shik’s parents, one more pregnant mother Jung Gum Ja (Kang Mal Geum). Even though their first encounter was bad, villagers started threatening Young Soon to close the pig farm and started fighting but they stopped when they saw that Young Soon’s water broke. Young Soon gave birth to Kang Ho and right after Gun Ja gave birth to Mi Joo. After that, they became neighbors and villagers also help their new neighbors.
The Good And Bad Mother:
Young Soo wants her son to become Prosecutor so he can find out his father’s death’s real reason. She became a bad mother for the future of her son, she always tells him to study and feed him little food so that he didn’t feel sleepy while studying. Kang Ho was banned to enjoy with his friend, Kang Ho and Mi Joo liked each other but Kang Ho’s mother was against their relationship. Finally, a day come when Kang Ho has to give CSAT exam but unfortunately, he was unable to give because Mi Joo meet an accident so Kang Ho take her to the hospital and missed his exam. When his mother comes to know about the incident, she gets very angry and starts shouting. Kang Ho was hurt by his mother’s reaction and from that day he became cold-hearted.
Revenge:
Kang Ho wants to take revenge on those who have killed his father. After reading his father’s case fill he finds out that Woo Byeok and Tae Soo were behind his father’s death. So he started planning to go close to them and he approach Ha Young, who is Tae Soo’s daughter. Ha Young surprised her father on his birthday by introducing Kang Ho as her boyfriend. Tae Goo was shocked because he doesn’t want her daughter to marry him. Later he plans to kill Kang Ho and he also involved his daughter in his plan by turning Ha Young against him not all that but he came up with a fake story that Ha Young believed.
Overall Thoughts on The Good Bad Mother Korean Drama
The Good and Bad Mother is one of the best korean dramas which shows the reality, of how parents sacrifice their life for the betterment of their children, sometimes their intention was right but their actions make the situation worse. With Young Soon sometime I like her character but I hate her, at times she overdid things. The drama shows the mother and son’s relationship, their connection, and their bond. Highly recommend this K-drama. Although I feel Kang Ho’s recovery process is a little slow.
