It is a story about an intelligent student Baek Seung Yoo (Lee Do Hyun) who was very good at maths and went to MIT at a very young age but because of some incident, he came back to Korea and play dumb as if he never know maths. After 8 years a maths teacher Ji Yoon Soo (Im Soo Jung) came into his life and patiently convinced him to learn and practice maths together.

She is a maths teacher who is very passionate about her work.
Lee Do-hyun as Baek Seung-yoo
Choi Seung-hun played the role of young Baek Seung-Yoo. He is a student at Ahseong High School and very good at maths he sees the world in mathematical terms.

In Search:
Ji Yoon-soo join Ahseong High School as a maths teacher she gave students a question everyone got wrong but one student put the correct answer on the notice board. Ji Yoon-soo is very curious to know about that student she called that student Ramanujan (Mathematician). She finds out that student and checks his academic background but he got a grade 9 in maths so she came to know that there must a reason he is behaving like that.
Bring it Back:
Ji Yoon-soo helped him to bring back his passion for maths. He started getting recognition in school because of this his classmates started getting jealous of him mainly toppers. So they tried hard to maintain their position as toppers.
Game Plan:
Ms. Noh( director of the school) hired Ji Yoon-soo to use her for her benefit but she backfired when she came to know about corruption going in school. Ms. Noh framed her and create a scene on her wedding day. After that, she left the school and was seen after 4 years. On the other hand, Baek Seung-yoo dropout from school, cleared his GED, became the youngest Korean guy to win the lucifer prize and many other prizes.
4 Years Later:
After 4 years Ms. Noh approached Baek Seung-yoo and he was ready to work as a teacher in her school. She thought she will use him for her good but he was back with a plan. He wants to expose the corruption going on in school and wants them to Apologize Yoon-soo.
Overall Thoughts on Melancholia Korean Drama
I am already a huge fan of Lee Do-Hyun’s acting and this is the only reason I started watching this drama but didn’t like it that much. Honestly saying I sometimes hate the main female character because at times her character irritated me a lot.
