Awaken Korean drama is the mystery, thriller K-Drama. In a town, people are dying mysteriously. Do Jung Woo, Gong Hye Won, and Jamie Leighton try to uncover the secret behind the cases? Somehow they were related to the 26-year-old case “White Night Village”. Someone is killing those people who are relayed to “White Night Village”?
Main Characters:
Namkoong Min as Do Jung Woo
Do Jung Woo is the leader of the special team in the National Police Agency. His mind is very sharp and he is also from the “White Night Village”. He is a little bit wired and always suks lollipop.
Kim Seol Hyun as Gong Hye Won
Gong Hye Won is an impatient and hot-tempered police officer. She is very good at fighting and does her works with all dedication. Hye Won is also part of a special team and she had a crush on Jung Woo.
Lee Chung Ah as Jamie Leighton
Jamie Leighton is the adopted child. Her parents are from the United States. She is a criminal psychologist from the FBI dispatched investigator and she returned to Korea as the FBI Team Leader. Jamie is a foreigner with Korean roots.
Yoon Sun Woo as Moon Jae Woong
Moon Jae Woong is a mysterious man. He doesn’t like when someone touches him and doesn’t talk much.
Reason To Watch Awaken Korean Drama
Tragic:
The opening of the Awaken Korean drama is very creepy where three children are calmly watching the fire. Everyone is shouting, screaming, laughing, and killing each other. This tragic incident became a history that everyone forgets. Fast forward to the present day, a mysterious crime is happening in the city. Someone was killing people, without leaving any evidence. For handling the mysterious case a special team was established by the police officers and which is headed by Jung Woo. The special team was four people. Hye Won is a young, passionate, hard-working, and short-tempered girl, team inspector Moon Jae Woong (Yoon Sun Woo) and restless Jang Ji Wan (Lee Shin Young).
Hidden Message:
Before committing the crime, the murderer sending the warning in a cryptic code to the special police unit and T.V anchor Lee Ji Wook (Yoon Gyung Ho). Jung Woo always decodes each warning and they always reach the crime scene but the killer is always one step ahead of them. The killer kills the people so easily that he didn’t leave any evidence.
Murder:
High school students jump off the building without leaving any suicidal note. A rich party host jumps in the swimming pool and drowned himself, a sexually insane professor dragged himself in front of the train, and many more cases were happing. All the victims don’t have any connection with each other and their age, the background is different from each other. Police officers and Ji Wook are finding the common link between all the victims.
Hidden Experiments:
Behind the back of the citizens, the higher up and powerful people are doing the research and experiments on human beings. They are doing unlawful and illegal work on the kids. Because of their greed and benefits, many little kids are killed in those experiments. Many businessmen and police officers are directly or indirectly involved in that human test experiment.
Mysterious Characters:
While watching the Awaken Korean drama, I personally find every character are mysterious. Jung Woo is himself is a mysterious character who invites you to dig deeper into his character. Jamie Leighton who involves in the investigation is herself is a mysterious individual. she won’t have any recollection of her past. But their interaction always tells us that they both have any connection in their past. Ji Wook is also a mysterious individual who always ahead of their media channel he is one who always broadcasts the cryptic warning. He either has a personal connection with the higherups or he himself involved in the crime. Another suspicious character is Jae Woong, he always meets with Jamie in the convenience store. Either he meets with her coincidence or he has any other intention.
Investigation:
Other than the police investigation every individual is doing their own investigation on White Night Village. Jung Woo is doing his investigation and due to suspicious nature and behavior, Jamie doubts that he is the killer whereas Jung Woo felt that she is the one who is killing people. Other than them Ji Wook is doing his own investigation and he also believes that Jung Woo is the one who is killing people. Hye Won is also indirectly related to the experiments and because of the relation, Jung Woo invites her into the special force unit.
Overall Thoughts on Awaken Korean Drama:
Awaken Korean drama is full of mystery and thriller Korean drama. Form the starting of the drama keep me engaged. Each character nailed their role and move the plot forward with their amazing acting and chemistry with each other. Namkoong Min is one of the best actors and one of the reasons for me to watch Awaken Korean drama. He nailed every scene and I really love his chemistry with every character especially with Chung Ah.
Some of the scene of Awaken Korean drama where they are showing the love scene of Jung Woo and Hye Won, where she had the crush on Jung Woo rather than showing the one-sided love it’s better to show the more chemistry of brother-sister. It’s better to show the Jamie and Jung Woo moments because there was no need to give us any love line in the whole drama.
At the starting of the drama really don’t like the Hye Won character because of her hot-tempered but as the drama progressed, I began to like her character. Other than that I highly recommend Awaken Korean drama to all people who want to watch the mystery and thriller Korean drama with the twist of Sci-Fri. You can also watch Awaken Korean drama on Viki.
