Main Characters:

Kim Tae Hee as Cha Yu Ri

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Yu Ri dies in a traffic accident, but she is watching over her family as a ghost for five years. She is funny, caring, sensitive, and looks at what’s best for her people.

Lee Kyu Hyung as Jo Gang Hwa

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Gang Hwa is a loving and caring husband, but after his wife’s death, his personality totally changed. Above all, now he doesn’t like interacting with people and doesn’t talk much. I feel sad for Gang Hwa because he is stuck between his dead wife who comes back to life and his current wife.

Go Bo Gyeol as Oh Min Jung

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Oh Min Jung (Go Bo Gyeol), is a wonderful stepmother of five-year-old daughter Cho Seo woo. Usually, when we say the word stepmother, it reminds us that she will be evil, scary, wicked, and full of jealousy. But Min Jung will change your perspective toward your stepmother. She is loving and caring.

Seo Woo Jin as Jo Seo Woo

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Cho Seo Woo (Seo Woo Jin, a boy who played a girl role), can see ghosts but speak very less. Seo Jin is a cute kid. I love him in every scene, his presence in every episode made me happy.

Kim Mi Kyung as Jun Eun Sook

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Yuri’s mother touches every viewer’s heart. Because of her prayers and her only wish, to see her dead daughter one more time, her dreams come true.

A man who lost his wife is called a widower. And a kid who lost his parents is called an orphan. But there’s no word for a parent who lost their kid. Do you know why? It’s because no word can describe it. There’s no word in the word in this world that can describe the excruciating pain.

Highlights of Hi Bye Mama Korean Drama

When Yuri came back to life her only motive is that her daughter Seo Woo becomes normal and cannot see a ghost. Yuri was hurt by the fact that because of her, her daughter is seeing a ghost. She wants to do everything normally to leave the world without telling anybody. Yuri doesn’t want to give any false hopes to her family and friends about her because everything was changed. The first person who saw her was Gang Hwa, who was shocked when he saw her.

Life as Kitchen Assistant and Pickup Helper:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

After returning to life, Yuri wants to spend time with Seo Woo as much as possible. One more thing that she wants to do is to send away all the ghosts away from Seo Woo, who comes near her. She starts doing the job as a Kitchen assistant in Seo Woo’s Kindergarten. And she starts another work as a pickup helper to drop Seo Woo at her home. Yuri was watching Seo Woo for 5 years as a ghost, so she knows that one ghost is also living in that house. Because she was also a ghost at that time, she didn’t do anything like that time, but now the time is changed she can throw that ghost outside Gang Hwa’s house.

Ghosts World:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

“There are actually so many beings living together in this world, even if (human) can’t see them.”

The ghosts of Hi Bye Mama! have their own world. They all have regret that’s why they are stuck between life and death. Basically, they don’t want to leave the world; so that they can see their family and their loved ones. When they heard that Yuri had become human then they all start abusing god to them also one chance. They ask Yuri for a favor, but Yuri tells them that because she also has a time limit so tell me only one favor to do. And after that, they all are so confused about, what should they tell her.

Heart-Touching Emotions:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Every episode of Hi Bye Mama! was very heart-touching and full of emotions. Overall every character has played his/her role perfectly. And whatever Yuri said in this drama literally touch my heart. In the last episode of the drama, the crying moment for me is when Yuri tells Seo Woo always to smile and asks her to come to her in the next life as well. Then Yuri hugs Seo Woo, and she gently says, “Bye’ Mom”. This is the first Korean drama for me where even the sad ending is worth watching.

Trio:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

I love the trio of Yuri, Hyun Jung (Shin Dong Mi) and Min Jung. Yuri and Hyun Jung were best friends since their 20s. Hyun Jung doesn’t have any siblings so she treats Yuri as her younger sister. When Yuri came back to life Hyun Jung was very happy and she was crying so badly. Min Jung also became their friend and love the company of Yuri and Hyun Jung. The best part of their trio is when they beat the gossiping woman because they are bad-mouthing Seo Woo and Min Jung.

Characters in Hi Bye Mama!:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

Hi Bye, Mama! Is the first drama for me where I love all the characters because of their love and care for other people. Above all, there are no villains or bad guys in the story. You will definitely love all characters, can not get mad at anyone because they all are victims. No one really wants to give pain to another person.

Best Stepmother:

Hi Bye Mama! Korean Drama Review (2020)

In the history of Korean drama Min Jung is the best stepmother because of her love for her stepdaughter Seo Woo. She is the kindest person and very different from the evil stepmother. She does whatever is best for Seo Woo and even decided to stay at home, in addition, she quit her nursing career. Moreover, she treats Seo Woo as her own daughter.

Overall Thoughts on Hi Bye Mama!:

I watched Hi Bye Mama! little late, but still I’m glad that I have watched this fantastic Korean drama. This is an amazing Korean drama, you can even watch it with your family. I love this Korean drama but still, I don’t recommend it to those who are looking for a well-written script. We all know the ending of the drama because of the drama title. But still, I’m happy with her decision because every mother wants the best for her kids. This drama has a sad ending, but still worth watching in Korean drama. You can also watch this Korean drama on Netflix.
