Things You Should As a New Korean Drama Watcher
Things you should know as a new Korean drama watcher are a few the things but the two most important things are where to watch and which drama to start with. Okay, one more thing I would like to mention for beginners is that once you will enter this whole new world of Korean drama there is no way back.
Where To Watch:
Most of the new Korean drama watchers didn’t know where to watch Korean dramas so here are my top sources and here they are available with English subtitles.
1. MX player (You will also find Hindi Dubbed Korean dramas here, a win-win situation isn’t it).
2. Netflix (You will find old dramas and new series released by them only of course you have to buy their subscription plan to watch).
3. Dramacool (It’s a website where you will find every drama and movie that too without any charges).
4. Viki (Top Korean Dramas to watch for free on Viki)
Which Drama To Start With:
To know where to start first identify the genre you would love to watch like Romance-comedy, Thriller, Mystery, Fantasy, etc. I will suggest starting with any Rom-Com drama to get used to the language, accent, and reading subtitles because in the initial stages it will be difficult for you to read subtitles fast and also watch the screen. Check out the list of ♡♡Top Rom-Com Korean Dramas For Beginners.
K-Pop:
Another hot topic in Korea as well as outside of Korea is K-pop and if you know about this already and want to watch K-pop idol’s Korean dramas then click here (Top Korean Dramas Starring K-POP Idols).
Can We Learn Korean By Watching Korean Dramas?
It’s a no for me because I am watching Korean dramas for more than five years now and I have watched n number of dramas still can’t speak Korean but you can learn a few words like Saranghae (I Love You), bogo sip-eoyo (I Miss You), gamsahabnida (Thank You), annyeong (Byee), and many more words like this.
Military Service:
In South Korea, it is compulsory for male citizens between the ages of 18 and 35 to perform military service for two years irrespective of their profession. For women, it is not compulsory but they can also join the military as per their will. If you are someone who loves watching the military genre then here is the list of Top Korean Dramas Based on Military.
Kimchi/Soju/Ramyeon:
They are not food or beverage they are emotions. Korean dramas are incomplete without them, you will see them in every single drama. Other a few Things You Will Notice In Korean Dramas. Kimchi is a famous side dish of Korea made up of Napa cabbage and carrot locally known as Baechu. Soju is an alcoholic beverage that is often taken by people when they are happy, or sad, at parties and team dinners. Ramyeon is a noodle dish and go-to meal.
Fighting:
Fighting is a word commonly used for encouragement and to cheer someone. For Koreans, this word is far from violence.
Fashion:
In Korean Dramas you will witness top-notch fashion not only in women but also in men. Here is the list of Top 10 Korean Dramas with Best Fashion Trends.
Dating Trend:
You will see dating trends as people love going on blind dates, they also go on a group couple dates. But the cutest thing you will find is matching things like the same phone cover, keyring, t-shirts, etc. The first time I saw this couple thing in “Heart string” Korean drama and find it kind off cute.
Tourist Destination:
You will see many tourist destinations in Korean dramas but the most popular one is Jeju Island. Here are some Top Tourist Destinations in South Korea. Popular Korean Dramas filmed on Jeju Island are Warm and Cosy, Boys over Flowers, Secret Garden, Princess Hours, Lie to Me, My Lovely Sam Soon, Scent of A Woman, My Girl, and Playful Kiss, apart from them you will see this place in 90 percent of the dramas.
