Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Korean Drama is the story of Dan Hwal (Lee Jin Wook) who is an immortal and he wants to take his revenge on a woman who was behind for his immortal. For the past 600 years, he wants to free himself from his curse.

Dan Hwal was a human but now he became immortal for the past 600 years. He decides to take revenge on the women who made him immortal.
Kwon Nara as Min Sang Eon / Min Sang Yeon
Min Sang Yeon used to be immortal but now she reincarnated as a human. Dan Hwal is chasing her because she is the reason for his immortal. After that, she has changed her identity and name.

Eul Tae is also immortal. However, he enjoys immortality, power, and wealth.

Bulgasal Curse:
The story from the Goryeo period where a pregnant woman killed herself even though the baby is born and survived because her baby was cursed by Bulgasal and it will not end until the boy dies. After hearing that news his father and villager has abandoned him and he was surviving all by himself. Finally, Bulgasal started attacking the villagers so, all the villagers start blaming the little kid for the death. They came up with a solution to kill him but suddenly a beautiful young shows up and takes the dagger for him.
At the same time, General Dan (Jung Jin Young) came up with his men and save and decide to raise him as a son. General Dan named him Hwal and he grows up a warrior. They killed all the monsters in the kingdom. Hwal marries Dan Sol she is the daughter of General Dan. Because of Hwal’s curse, his children were also affected, his baby girl was born premature and died however his boy is blind. To end the curse Hwal decides to find the Bulgasal while doing that he came to know that Bulgasal is the beautiful woman who saved him as a boy. In the end, Bulgasal kills Hwal’s family and steals his soul and now he is cursed with immortality. He became the monster whom he was hunted by his whole life.
Chasing Bulgasal:
Hwal was hunting this woman for centuries. The woman who has stolen Hwal’s soul became human and she has been reincarnated human several times along with that, she remembers all his reincarnations for 600 years. In the year 2006, the women reincarnated as twin sisters Sang Yeon and Sang Eon. Sang Yeon knows everything however, her twin doesn’t know anything and belive her. But because of her sister’s appearance, she inherits her fate also. Meanwhile, Bulgasal locates her and attack Sang Yeon and her family. Somehow Sang Eon escape and now after that incident, she starts believing her sister. At the last moment, Sang Yeon told her to live in hiding and find a way to kill Bulgasal.
First Encounter:
Fast forward even after 15 years Sang Eon and her younger sister Shi Ho are living in hiding and continuously changing places. Sang Eon still finding the sword that will kill Bulgasal. But she forgets the last words that her sister told before her death. Hwal finally locates Sang Eon because she accidentally leaves behind a hair tie at the apartment. When he reached there he saw that she is hunted by one of the reincarnated monsters and he has been following her for many years. Luckily Hwal saves her. Later her younger sister Shi Ho also show up and Hwal was in shock with his twist of fate. His former wife is now his enemy’s sister.
Two Bulgasal:
Later we came to know that there was another Bulgasal apart from Hwal who was also chasing Sang Eon and he wants to kill her. The whole life Sang Eon and Shi Ho hid from the Bulgasal however she remember that she told her to find the man with a scar on his right hand and he is the sword that can kill Bulgasal. After 600 years Hwal was encountering the same people, some as enemies or as friends. He is destined to meet them again and they will be dragged into his karma. Monsters from the past have reincarnated and they are after Sang Eon since she has taken Hwal’s soul.
Overall Thoughts on Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Korean Drama
To be very honest I watched Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Korean drama because of Lee Jin Wook. I like his acting and character in Sweet Home. So far I am liking this drama everything going well. I felt bad for Dan Hwal’s character because he was waiting for his enemy to reincarnate so that he can kill her but he found out that his wife in a different life is now his enemy’s sister in this life. Many of you find this drama very confusing because there are a lot of complicated backstories but you should this drama a chance. I highly recommend you to watch Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Korean Drama.
Although the drama is okay and gives to good cry last two episodes were so emotional. But there are a few things I don’t like about the drama that they never told Si Ho, Do Yun, and Kwon Ho Yeol about their relationship with Hwal in the past. What if they were aware of their past relationship in which direction their bond goes and what will be the response? In the end, I always felt bad for Ok Eul Tae who was an abandoned son and wanted to become immortal. The second half of the drama was so emotional and be prepared to cry.
