Flower of Evil is the story of Cha Ji Won (Moon Chae Won) who is a detective, and she is married to Baek Hee Sung (Lee Joon Gi). They have a daughter Baek Eun Ha (Jung Seo Yeon). Hee Sung is a loving and caring husband and father, but he hides his cruel past and lives under another person’s identity. He deceives his wife completely.

Highlights of Flower of Evil Korean Drama

Perfect Couples:

Cha Ji Won and Baek Hee Sung are perfect couples, but in reality, Hee Sung is hiding so many things from her wife. He is emotionless and secretly learning facial expressions to impress Ji Won. Hee Sung marries Ji Won because he feels secure with Ji Won. When he is around Ji Won, he didn’t see his father’s ghost, who wants to make him a murderer.

Hidden Face:

Hee Sung seems to be a perfect husband and father, but in reality, he isn’t. He is hiding many things from his wife. Hee Sung says to his parents that Ji Won believes what she sees, so he only shows her what she wants to see. He shows his loving and caring side to Ji Won. He even hides his real identity from his wife. Baek Hee Sung is living with someone as an identity.

Unexpected Friend:

Hee Sung is working in his metal studio, then suddenly Moo Jin walks into his shop and looks for an owner to fix his broken necklace. He asks for Hee Sung, but when Hee Sung turns, both men freeze and are surprised. Moo Jin calls Hee sung by the name of Do Hyun Soo, and Hee Sung was surprised. Moo Jin looks very uncomfortable, and he wants to leave, but Hee Sung tells him to ask the question which he wants to ask. He asks him that if he killed the village foreman because he was disappeared from the town on the same day the village foreman was murdered. Hee Sung kidnapped Moo Jin in his basement.

Serial Killer:

Do Min Seok is the father of Do Hyun Soo and Do Hae Soo. Do Min Seok is the serial killer who killed several people before killing himself. Everyone in his town thinks that Do Min Seok and his son Do Hyun Soo kill people.

Copycat Murder:

After so many years, murder happens similar to the Yeonju City serial murders victim’s thumbnails are missing. No one can understand why someone would copy an 18-year-old serial killer case. Again, similar copycat murder happens and again this case came into the headlines. Police start re-investigating this case again and now they aim to arrest Do Hyun Soo because everyone thinks that he is his father’s accomplice.

Father-Daughter Bond:

Baek Eun Ha (Jung Seo Yeon) is such a cute kid, I love her acting and innocence in Flower of Evil Korean drama. Eun Ha’s favorite person is his father Baek Hee Sung and she loves her father very much. He must be emotionless for other people, but when it comes to Eun Ha he loves and adores her, he could do anything to bring happiness to her face.

Trio’s Mission:

Nowadays Trio’s are very common in Korean dramas. In Flower of Evil Korean drama Baek Hee Sung/Do Hyun Soo, Do Hae Soo, and Kim Moo Jin team up together to find the real accomplice of Do Min Seok. Of Course, it will be not an easy task because they don’t have any clue. While finding Do Min Seok’s accomplice, he was risking his own life and at any cost, he wants to find him. To be very honest I was not shocked by the accomplice.

Painful Past:

Do Hyun Soo has a very painful past, he doesn’t have any friends during high school he mostly spent his time with his sister Do Hae Soo or Kim Moo Seok. Everyone in his town thinks that he helps his father in killing people. Even the village foreman performs an exorcism for him and everyone thinks he killed him. Do Hyun Soo left the village and changed his identity, no one knows in that village where he was gone. He lost his connection with his sister because of some reason.

Ji Won Investigation:

There’s is a limit to telling lies. While solving the Yeonju City serial murder case Ji Won slowly finds that his husband is hiding something from her. She finds out that his husband completely fools her over so many years, his identity is not his. Her husband’s actual name is Do Hyun Soo, Do Min Seok’s accomplice. When she finds out her husband fooled her, she was very hurt by that fact, even after that, she is not showing him that she knows his secret.

Meanwhile, she is doing so many things so that Baek Hee Sung tells her the truth. He doesn’t know that Ji Won knows his secret. When he knows that Ji Won knows everything he was very hurt and sad. Even after that Ji Won tries her best to save his husband from the police.

Real Baek Hee Sung Comeback:

Finally, the real Baek Hee Sung comes back to life and the moment he comeback he starts making plans to kill Do Hyun Soo. In the starting, I was thinking that he is innocent and a good guy, and maybe his father was Do Min Seok’s accomplice but within a few episodes he changes my view toward himself. Baek Hee Sung wants to take back his identity. He again starts killing people and doesn’t even hesitate before killing them. He gives me very chilled and cold vibes I literally hate him and give credit for playing his role so perfectly.

Second Lead:

Let’s not forget that we all rooting for Do Hae Soo and Kim Moo Jin and look so cute together. Moo Jin likes Do Hae Soo since his high school still wants to go back with her even after knowing everything. Because of their tragic past, they lose connection and again meet after so many years. I love that sconce when Do Hyun Soo all the time manipulate Moo Jin in front of Hae Soo and he doesn’t even realize that until Hyun Soo told him that.

Overall Thoughts on Flower of Evil:

Flower of Evil is the perfect combination of romance and mystery. Every actor plays their role perfectly again I must say that Flower of Evil is also the best Korean drama of 2020. I cried in so many scenes, love the bond of father and daughter. Lee Joon Gi and Moon Chae Won look perfect together.
