Highlights of Born Again Korean Drama
In 1980’s, Serial Murders:
Cha Hyung Bin is a detective who is investigating serial murders, and the case is around women and yellow umbrellas. Gong Ji Cheol also falls in love with Ha Eun. Ji Cheol saves her when she faints in her bookstore or in the street.
In 1980’s, Finding Serial Killer:
Meanwhile, Hyung Bin finds out about Ji Cheol and his obsession with Ha Eun and he assumed that Ji Cheol is the serial killer and he wants to kill her girl. When Ji Cheol heard that Ha Eun need the heart to live then he kills a person so that he can bring a heart for her. After that Hyung Bin arrest him but he ran away from the jail.
Tragic Past:
Ji Cheol wants to tell her that he wants to give his heart to Ha Eun but Hyung Bin came there and they both start fighting, Ji Cheol accidentally stabbed Hyung Bin when Ha Eun saw that she faint. Ji Cheol takes the gun and shoots himself in the head.
Past Flashbacks:
Whenever they are around each other, they not only get flashbacks from their previous lives but also feel physical discomfort. The prosecutor gets pain near his left eye and the medical student becomes shaky.
Copycat Murder:
In the present day, someone is coping with Gong Ji Cheol’s murders, like how he murders someone 30 years ago but in the past, the real criminal was his father. They found a mummy in the Donggang river of a man who was holding a ring in his hand. That mummy turns into a skeleton in a day. Soo Hyuk trying to forge the evidence of the Donggang river mummy so that Byun Sung Hoon can be sentenced to life.
Mysterious Text:
Jong Bum visits a woman’s house Lim Hwa Young (Song Yoo Hyun) and she asks him to drink with her, and tells her secret that she kill her child. On the other hand, someone keeps texting Jong Bum that if he wants then they are capable of killing that person for him and that mysterious text keeps pooping under the name of “Gong Ji Cheol”. She was later found dead at her home.
Gong Ji Cheol’s Family:
I feel very sad for Gong Ji Cheol, my heart was crying for his sad and struggle life. He was emotionally, physically, and sexually abused by his stepmother. His father is a serial killer who kills women for inspiration to paint. That is bullshit I mean who kills people just for the sake of painting. Everyone was blaming him for a crime that he didn’t commit.
Chun Jong Bum’s Family:
Jong Bum’s family disappoints me, they are the real monster who mistreat him differently. His father is a chief prosecutor who only cares about his reputation. His younger brother is very disrespectful toward him, he is so young still has so much hatred toward Jong Bum and he even tried to make him eat detergent. I don’t like his younger brother he deserves a good slap and his mother is not so good either who gives a weird feeling. They all balm Jong bum for being lacing in his emotions.
Favorite Character:
I personally like Hyung Bin/ Soo Hyuk’s character in Born Again. Even though Soo Hyuk is rude but he is very kind toward his lover Sa Bin. In both lives, he wants to protect her. Soo Hyuk doesn’t like the people who are mentally off, he believes that people like them are beasts, not humans. They just want to kill people for no reason.
Overall Thought on Born Again:
For me, Sa Bin is the love-hate character in Born Again. Sometimes she irritates me. Even after she knows that Jong Bum was following her everywhere through the tracking app on her phone and he has her diary, yet she didn’t say much to him. She was so confused about the whole drama between Jong Bum or Soo Hyuk. I don’t know how many are you will agree with me, but that’s my opinion. *Spoiler Alert* From the beginning of this drama I was supporting Hyung Bin and Ha Eun but the ending of this drama disappoint me. Hyung Bin waits for 4 years to marry her and then Gong Ji Cheol kills him.
Still, there are so many faults in the drama and end with many unsolved issues like Gong Ji Cheol killing his stepmother but they didn’t cover that case. The story only revolves around Gong Ji Cheol’s death and gives justice to him, but who will justify the death of Hyung Bin and give justice to him. I want happy a ending for Soo Hyuk in this life. *Spoiler End*
And what about the promises that Ha Eun take that she will love Hyung Bin in her all life…. are they all useless. Finally, Born Again is a big disappointment for me. If you still want to watch Born again then do that at your own risk. You can also watch this Korean drama in Viki.
